J.L. Waters is Indiana's oldest and most complete outdoor store. We've been serving outdoor adventurers and world travelers since 1973! Clothing
At JL Waters we have a wide selection of robust clothing for the active lifestyle. If you enjoy morning yoga, skiing or hiking all day, then hitting the town for dinner, you will find the right duds at JL Waters. We carry clothing from Patagonia, The North Face, Prana, Mountain Khakis, Icebreaker, Columbia, Ex Officio and Woolrich. Some of our suppliers use recycled and organic fabrics; others provide lightweight and durable clothing for travel, while others build clothing with high Ultraviolet Protection Factors. Footwear
Whether looking for boots for the backcountry, or shoes for your next urban adventure, JL Waters has your feet covered. We feature Keen, Chaco, Mion, Garmont, Lowa, Merrell, Birkenstock and many other excellent brands of footwear. We know how important it is to have shoes and boots that fit.
Camping Equipment
Need a tent that will withstand all the elements Mother Nature brings to bear? How about a backpack for your Appalachian Trail thru-hike? Or perhaps a sleeping bag for a Mount Rainer summit bid? Climbing
At JL Waters you will discover all the equipment you can imagine for sport climbing, traditional climbing, mountaineering and caving. Whether you are outfitting for a trip to the Red River Gorge or Red Rocks, JL Waters has your equipment needs covered from 5.10, La Sportiva, and EVOLV to Sterling rope. We also carry Black Diamond and Petzl hardwear as well as Misty Mountain and Petzl harnesses. We have an experienced and knowledgeable staff, many of whom can be found climbing in the Red River Gorge on their off time. Our selection, service and experience can turn your imagined climbs into reality.
Canoes and Kayaks
JL Waters is probably best known for our boats. We have one of the largest selections of canoes and kayaks in the Midwest. We carry canoes from Wenonah and Mad River, and kayaks from Wavesport, Necky, Current Designs, Wilderness Systems, Perception and Dagger. At the height of the season we have over 50 boats to choose from. In the event that we do not have that perfect boat in stock, we are always happy to place a special order for you. JL Waters has a knowledgeable and experienced staff of paddlers to outfit you with the correct boat and paddling accessories for your next adventure. Fly Fishing
Whether you are an experienced fly fisherman or you are about to buy your first fly rod and reel JL Waters has all the fly fishing tackle you need. We feature a wide selection of fly rods, reels, line, and waders from Orvis, and flies specifically tailored for fishing the Midwest. Even if you don't plan on fishing in the Midwest, JL Waters can help you select the tackle you need for destinations ranging everywhere from saltwater in Florida to trout in Montana to salmon runs in Alaska. We also carry a great selection of reference books and magazines which would be beneficial to even an experienced fisherman. Finally, our knowledgeable staff can answer your questions, and assist you in selecting all the equipment you need for your next fly fishing adventure. JL Waters is proud to offer an excellent selection of boards from Salomon and Burton, and skis from Line, Nordica, and Salomon. We also carry cross-country skis, boots and bindings that are appropriate for groomed and ungroomed conditions. Finally, JL Waters is a full service ski/board tuning and repair shop and is home of the Wintersteiger ski tuning machine.
